If the bleeding is at or near a joint, place the tourniquet just above the joint.Pass the strap around the limb and insert the tip into the buckle.Pull the strap tight until the bleeding stops. Secure the strap.Twist the windlass until the bleeding is controlled.Secure the windlass in the holder and note the application time on the tourniquet or with the permanent marker on the casualty’s forehead.Apply Hemostatic Gauze (For Wound Packing):If the bleeding is in an area where a tourniquet cannot be applied or as an adjunct to tourniquet use, open the hemostatic gauze.Pack the gauze directly into the wound cavity, applying firm and direct pressure. Ensure the entire wound is filled.Maintain pressure on the wound.Apply Trauma Dressing (For External Wounds):For external bleeding, apply the trauma dressing directly over the wound.Wrap the elastic bandage around the limb or body part to secure the dressing and apply additional pressure.Apply Chest Seal (For Chest Wounds):For open chest wounds, apply the chest seal directly over the wound.Ensure good adhesion to create a seal, preventing air from entering the chest cavity.
